Friendship Association of the Blind (Jordan)

“____For surely it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts”. Verse 047, Surat Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage, # 22).

Friendship Association of the Blind has been established in the year 1977 to be one of the tangible charitable landmarks in the Jordanian developmental process. The association has an honorary president who is his highness Prince Ra’ad Bin Zeid, and is run by a board which consists of 7 members.

Born 18 February 1936 in Berlin, and is the son of Prince Zeid and Princess Fakhrelnissa Zeid. Upon the death of his father (Prince Zeid bin Hussein) on October 18, 1970, he inherited the position as head of the Royal Houses of Iraq and Syria. HRH Ra'ad is married to HRH Princess Majda Ra'ad and has four sons and one daughter:

- HRH Prince Mired bin Ra'ad
- HRH Prince Firas bin Ra'ad
- HRH Prince Faisal bin Ra'ad
- HRH Princess Fakhrelnissa bint Ra'ad

Prince Raad presides over World Blind Union officers meeting

AMMAN (Petra) - HRH Prince Raad, Chief Chamberlain and president of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), on Monday presided over a meeting of the officers of the World Blind Union (WBU) to discuss issues related to people with visual impairments. During the meeting, Prince Raad said Jordan is among the first Arab nations to sign the international convention on the rights of disabled people, adding that laws in the country were modified according to international conventions.
